My name is Brad Martin, and learning how to sell not only saved me from bankruptcy but it has allowed me to live a better life than I could have ever imagined. 

 

The skill to influence people not only made me more money it also allowed me to make more friends, negotiate better deals when buying things, and find the love of my life.

 

Hence my extreme passion for sales.

 

It all started one day after my fiance had left me, I had quit my job working in forestry six months before, and I was trying to make it as an entrepreneur.

 

And I did it the stupidest way imaginable. I started three different businesses in three different industries that I had zero experience in. AND I did them all at the same time.

Sitting on the floor of my townhouse, flooded with stress, fear, loneliness, and frustration.

It led me to ask myself…

How did I get here? Which led me to asking myself another question.

What am I missing? What’s missing from the equation that is Brad?

After writing out my list of answers it really came down to a few things.

Lack of confidence, lack of people skills, and I couldn’t get people to buy my products.

I drew a line across the page and underneath those answers, what can I do to get these skills and become a better man?

 

The Answer Was Clear: Sales

After deciding learning to sell could handle all of these problems I then asked what kind of sales position I wanted to be in.

The answer this time was: The most difficult sales jobs I can think of. The harder the job the better, and I wanted to have limitless opportunities and to be highly motivated. So the next question became, what is the hardest forms of sales I can think of that only pays commission.

The list was long but it ended with Used Car Sales, Telemarketing, and Door to Door sales.

Over the next year and a half I did all three, starting with used cars, and ending in door to door sales.

And over that time I learned a lot. I learned thing like…

  • The importance of a highly effective sales process, that you can use over and over again.
  • How to overcome objections.
  • How to manage my state, and make sure I showed up to work, fired up and ready to sell.
  • How to really close sales (Without using crazy high pressure tactics).
  • How to cold call and prospect effectively (There is definitely a better way prospect).
  • How to follow up and build a loyal customer base.

And that was just the beginning. Eventually leading me signing on with a door to door sales agency selling internet, homephone, and TV.

There my career took off.

It took me two weeks to become a manager, two months to start running an office, 8 months after that to open a second office, followed by a third office, and ending with 18 locations, and me becoming a partner in the company.

At the same time, getting to live my dreams, I bought a Lamborghini, three motorcycles, lived in a beautiful apartment, and met the woman of my dreams.

Full commitment to mastering Sales Skills took me from $137K in debt to earning millions. 

And I know I’m not the only one who has a story like this. Anyone that really commits to learning the right set of skills. “Right” being the key word in that sentence, because there are a ton of charlatans out there selling out of date or simply just bad sales training products.
